Driver insurance and liability
BoxHauls hauls are covered by Hiscox Inc., with limits of $10,000 cargo / $1M liability. That coverage is for the haul. Your own auto insurance still matters, and many personal policies exclude driving for pay.
What the BoxHauls policy covers
| Situation | Covered by |
|---|---|
| Customer’s items in your truck | Hiscox Inc. [TODO: confirm] |
| Damage to a customer’s property during loading | Hiscox Inc. [TODO: confirm] |

| Your injuries | [TODO: occupational accident coverage, if any] |
What personal auto policies exclude
Many personal auto policies exclude “livery” or business use, meaning driving for pay. If you haul for BoxHauls on a personal policy that excludes it, a claim from a hauling trip could be denied. Call your insurer before your first trip.
Commercial options
- Business-use or delivery endorsement. Added to your personal policy; usually the cheapest fix.
- Commercial auto policy. For drivers hauling most days.
- Inland marine or cargo coverage. Covers goods in your care beyond the platform’s limits.
Ask your insurer which fits.
