What to expect from a BoxHauls driver

By the BoxHauls team, reviewed by John Marcus IV

A BoxHauls driver is a screened local with their own pickup truck. They load your item, wrap and strap it, drive it to the drop-off, and unload it. They bring moving blankets and straps. If you requested a helper and the driver brought one, there’ll be two people. Here’s how a trip usually goes.

Before the driver arrives

At pickup

The driver confirms the item, checks the path, and decides how to carry it. Upholstery and wood finishes get wrapped in moving blankets. Every item is strapped in the bed so it can’t shift.

On the road

Your item rides strapped in an open pickup bed, protected by blankets. [TODO: confirm in-app tracking during the trip]

At drop-off

The driver unloads at the drop-off address. [TODO: whether drivers bring items inside, and how far] Check the item before the driver leaves. If anything’s damaged, photograph it right away.

What drivers don’t do

[TODO: confirm drivers don’t assemble furniture or connect appliances]

Helpers

Heavy items take two people. If you requested a helper, only a driver bringing one can accept your trip. Helpers aren’t guaranteed, so for two-person items, have someone ready just in case.

Tipping

Tips are optional and go to your driver.
