How BoxHauls works

A BoxHauls trip takes seven steps, and the price is fixed at step three, before you book. You enter two addresses and say what’s moving. You see a price built from one formula, and a local driver with a pickup does the hauling.

The price comes before the booking

Every trip uses the same formula: $17.00 base plus $3.10 a mile. Two add-ons can apply: $29 for heavy items (refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, gun safes, sectionals and sleeper sofas) and $17 for a second person. There’s no hourly rate and no surge. The three job types

• Movin' Boxes: boxes and small-move loads.
• Dump Run: junk headed to the landfill or transfer station. Dump fees are passed through at cost.
• Large Item Pick-up: furniture, appliances and other single large items.

The job type tells the driver what to expect. It doesn’t change the price formula. If you’re not sure your item fits in a pickup bed, check which job type and truck fit your stuff.

Helpers

Some drivers bring a second person. If you request a helper, it adds $17, and only a driver who has one can accept your trip. Helpers aren’t guaranteed. For two-person items like refrigerators and washers, have someone ready to help load in case no driver with a helper is available.

Who’s driving

Drivers use their own pickup trucks and are screened by Checkr before their first trip. Every haul is insured by Hiscox Inc.. Here’s how BoxHauls vets drivers and insures your items.
